CRITERIA FOR PUBLICATION
The Working Papers on Internal Displacement publishes research on internal displacement and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Papers must be based on original research, conform to the usual standard of academic publishing, be fully referenced and presented in the standard technical format employed by the series. Submissions are received on a rolling basis.
General
- Papers may be from any disciplinary perspective but should centrally address issues of internal displacement and IDPs. Papers which do not do so will usually be rejected.
- Papers should be based on original research. They will be evaluated based on their contemporary relevance, contribution to the field, structure and analytical rigour.
- Papers may be submitted in English, French, Spanish or Arabic.
Format
- Paper: Generally between 6,000 and 15,000 words, including footnotes
- Cover page: Working Paper title, author’s name & affiliation, email address
- Statement: Papers must be accompanied by a signed and dated statement by the author/s declaring that permission to publish the paper on Researching Internal Displacement is given, and confirming that no further permissions are required
- Abstract (up to 300 words) & key words (up to 5)
- Bibliography (optional): Sources must be listed according to referencing style
Style
- Referencing style: any recognised style (such as Harvard, Chicago or OSCOLA) will be accepted so long as it is consistently applied
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 point, justified, single spaced
- Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 point, single spaced
- UK spelling for English; appropriate spelling for other languages
- Document: MS Word (A4 with default margins)
Process
- Submissions are received on a rolling basis
- Papers will be reviewed by the Researching Internal Displacement editors and those accepted may be subject to pre-publication light editing. We will endeavour to accept, reject or propose revisions to a paper within four weeks of submission
- Papers are published online and are freely accessible. Papers published in the series may subsequently be published in journals or books provided that an acknowledgement is given to our Working Papers series
- Opinions expressed in individual Working Papers are solely those of the author/s, who retain the copyright. They do not represent the views of Researching Internal Displacement or its networks, and should not be attributed to them
